Afraid you can’t craft an effective resume or cover letter to land a great 1L summer internship? Come join the SALSA’s 1L Resume and Cover letter Workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 17th, 1-2 p in Stuart 402!

Led by 2Ls who applied to and obtained positions with judges, the DA’s office, nonprofit organizations and law firms. They will discuss their job search experience, effective writing strategies to target specific types of employers, and also share samples of their resumes and cover letters to get you started.

On Monday, November 16th, at 3:30pm in EW120, The Federalist Society presents Maggie Gallagher, President, National Organization for Marriage & President, Institute for Marriage and Public Policy. Ms. Gallagher will talk about the legal differences between same sex unions and traditional marriages. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A session.

In addition to serving as President of the National Organization for Marriage, Maggie Gallagher is also president of the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy (www.iMAPP.org), a nonprofit organization whose unique mission is research and public education on ways that law and public policy can strengthen marriage as a social institution.

Ms. Gallagher is a nationally syndicated columnist, the author of three books on marriage (including most recently with University of Chicago Prof Linda Waite “The Case for Marriage: Why Married People Are Happier, Healthier, and Better-Off Financially”), and a leading voice of the new marriage movement. National Journal named her to the 2004 list of the most influential people in the same-sex marriage debate.

She appears frequently on major TV and radio and is frequently asked to lecture at colleges, universities and law schools. She has testified as an expert witness on marriage before the U.S. Senate and in various state legislatures. Her writings on marriage have appeared in The New York Times, The Weekly Standard, and the Wall Street Journal, as well as scholarly journals such as the Louisiana Law Review, and the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics, and Public Policy.

Ms. Gallagher is a graduate of Yale (class of ‘82). She lives with her husband and two children in Westchester, New York.

On November 12th, in Stuart 402 at 2:30, Mr. Doug Bandow from the Cato Institute will be on BC campus to talk about health care reform. Coffee and donuts will be served provided by the Federalist Society. Doug Bandow is a senior fellow at the Cato Institute, specializing in foreign policy and civil liberties. He worked as special assistant to President Reagan and editor of the political magazine Inquiry. He writes regularly for leading publications such as Fortune magazine and speaks frequently at academic conferences, on college campuses, and to business groups. Bandow has been a regular commentator on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox News Channel, and MSNBC. He holds a J.D. from Stanford University.

Come hear BC Law Alumni Michelle Limaj and Professor Amy Wax, Suffolk Law Alum Mary Dupont, as well as Judy Levenfeld from Career Services, talk about their experience in international public interest, as well as steps to take to find an internship or job in this field.
